Sharon Southerland-Smith

                                         Director of Accounting and Finance

In her position, Sharon manages all activities of the Accounting and Finance Department including budgeting, auditing, financial analysis, and investments.  She prepares and analyzes a variety of financial reports for submission to the NSBE National executive Board and works closely with the National Finance Chairperson to increase efficiency of accounting operations and ensure that appropriate policies are implemented.  Under a new reorganization plan, Sharon is also instrumental in NSBE’s development efforts to maintain sound corporate and sponsor relationships that translate into diversified revenue streams for the society.

Prior to joining NSBE in 1991, Sharon spent nearly 10 years at he International Association of Fire Chiefs, eventually working her way up to the finance director position.

Sharon holds a B.S. degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Bowie State University
