What is it?
Bushnell BackTrack – GPS Personal Location Finder

Why we recommend it:
Ever lose your car in a crowded parking lot? Well, this easy-to-use device can prevent that. All you have to do is press a button at your current location, walk to your destination, press another button for the device to stop tracking, store it in your bag, and go take care of business. When you’re done, the Bushnell BackTrack will show you how to get back to where you started. It can even store up to three locations.

Suggested Retail Price: $60.00

Philips-Wake-up-Light.jpg

What is it?
Philips Wake-up Light

Why we like it:
Waking up to natural sun seeping thru your window is more inviting than having your friend switch the light on above your eyes. This light will provide you with that soothing sunlight experience. To make leaving dreamland even better, you can wake to your favorite song by connecting your iPod or iPhone to the device.

Suggested Retail Price: $200.00

What is it?

Black College Football Experience (BCFx): The Doug Williams Edition for the Xbox 360

Why we like it:

To begin with, who doesn’t like football games, especially with a head-to-head drumline competition! I used to march in a band, and to see it done virtually in a video game is truly amazing. The game also allows the user to go into a “Legacy Museum” to be educated about the history of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The game’s maker, FYI Nerjyzed Entertainment, is the first African-American-owned development studio to receive Gold Certification for the Xbox 360. “BCFx: The Doug Williams Edition” is the first video game combining sports- and rhythm-based music games.

Suggested Retail Price: $40.00

Why we recommend it:

The holidays are for thinking about your family and friends, and also for reaching out to help others. The mission of One Laptop per Child, maker of the XO Laptop, is “to create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning.” For $199, you can give a laptop to a child in the developing world. When you donate in someone’s name, that person receives a card honoring the donation. Visit http://laptop.org/en for more information.

Price: $199.00
