Kwame Hilson Baptiste was raised in the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbuda where he completed his high school diploma and A-Level (Junior college) studies. He migrated to the New York City in 1998 where he worked his way through college. As a very active student at Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken, NJ, he completed a Bachelors of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. He is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Engineering Management with a focus in Project Management at Stevens and currently works as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Kwame is a hard working and very enthusiastic individual who enjoys meeting people and is always open to discussion on any issue. He looks forward to working with the entire region and Regional Board to take Region I to new records and bigger and better things.
Christian Senu

Christian Senu was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. After graduating from Central High School in 2005, he is now in his senior year at Columbia University pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. His prior NSBE experience includes serving as chapter president and vice president. Outside the classroom Christian is an INROADS intern at Sikorsky Aircraft where he has been working in their Quality Department for the past three summers.
Hailing from the MIGHTY Metro/Li Zone, Christian is ready for an exciting year on the regional executive board and more importantly for the membership. As the Region I Vice Chairperson and Metro/Li Zone Chair he will be working diligently to keep Region FIRST, first.
Christian will one day work in the Ownership Department of a large technological company.

Calvin Young is a 20 year old senior in Mechanical Engineering with an Aerospace Concentration at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY. He is currently an Avionics Logistics and Engineering Intern for the Department of the Army in Fort Monmouth, NJ.
Calvin was born in Baltimore, MD and currently resides in Brooklyn. Before being Region I Secretary, he served NSBE as Chapter Membership Chair, Chapter President, and Metro/LI Zone Vice- Chairperson. Calvin has also participated in the Region I Apprentice Program under the Region I Secretary position. Other leadership experiences include serving as a Baltimore City Youth Commissioner, Resident Assistant and Student Ambassador.
Calvin's life goal is to be an astronaut and work on the Manned Mission to Mars. He has a twin brother and a new born baby niece named Amaiya. As the Region I Secretary, Calvin has planned a transparent, comfortable, and professional flow of communication between the region and chapters.
Jessica Lee

Jessica Lee is a 22 year old junior at Princeton University studying Chemistry. She is from Zachary, LA, but currently resides in Princeton, NJ.
Prior to becoming Region I Treasurer, Jessica served NSBE in a chapter as Secretary, Vice President, and Senator. She has also chaired the fundraising committee for the Princeton Association of Black Women, was a sophomore representative for the Princeton Quadrangle Club, and an Orange Key Tour Guide.
Jessica’s life goal is to become a Pharmaceutical Research Chemist and also to design her own home. She is a first generation college student and a previous choir performer at Carnegie Hall. As Region I Treasurer, Jessica plans to increase financial communication with Zone and Chapter counterparts, as well as ensure the long term financial stability of the region.
Yasah Vezele

Yasah Vezele is 21 years old and a senior on the Pharmaceutical track in Chemical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. She is currently working with one of the chemical engineering professors on a Microbial Fuel Cell research project for the summer 2008 in Kingston, RI.
Yasah was born in Monrovia, Liberia and has resided in Providence, RI since coming to the United States in 1995. Before being the Region I Programs Chairperson, she served NSBE as Chapter Historian and Chapter Programs Chairperson. Other leadership experiences include Resident Assistant, Secretary on the Resident Assistant Board, and Chapter Treasurer of the American Institute of Chemical Engineer (AIChE).
Yasah’s goal is to work for Amgen and one day open her own Chemical Plant. Her favorite sport is Volleyball and she is the only one in her family with a lot of freckles. As Region I Programs Chairperson, Yasah plans to increase the number of participants in academic-based programs, and mobilize membership outreach. She loves the family atmosphere and the professionalism that NSBE is all about. Lastly, she is looking forward to a great year on the Regional Executive Board.
Naphysah Duncan

Naphysah Duncan is employed at a Medical Device company as a Research Engineer. She was employed at Cooper Union previously as a project engineer for the Maurice Kanbar Center for Biomedical Engineering. Ms. Duncan received a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from UMDNJ/The Graduate School at Rutgers University, during which time she was employed as an Adjunct Professor at Cooper Union. She also holds bachelor and masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cooper Union. Naphysah has served as Corresponding Secretary, Membership Chair and President of the NYC Metro Chapter of NSBE – AE and continues to tutor in the chapter’s Pre-College Initiative Program.
On the Region I Alumni Board, she has held the positions of Parliamentarian and Secretary. Ms. Duncan, as well as being a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Society of Women Engineers, the United States Gymnastics Federation, and the Urban League New York Young Professionals. Naphysah is a recipient of the 2005 & 2006 NSBE Region I Alumni Leadership Award, and enjoys being a Rhythmic Gymnastics judge.

Korey Carter is a 21 year-old senior Mechanical Engineering student at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in Ewing, NJ. He is currently a Reliability intern for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT.
Korey was born in Livingston, NJ and raised in Warrenton, GA. He moved back to New Jersey as a sophomore in high school and currently resides in East Orange, NJ. Before becoming the New Jersey Zone Chairperson and Membership Chairperson, he served as the President of TCNJ’s NSBE Chapter for two years. Outside of engineering, Korey is a member of Gospel Choir Ministries, Black Student Union, and when his schedule permits, a mentor for the Amistad Commission Trenton Mentoring Program. He is also employed as a Student Manager for the Brower Student Center at TCNJ.
After undergrad, Korey plans to pursue a career in either Automotive or Aerospace Engineering. One is his aspirations is to learn how to restore a classic automobile such as a Caprice Classic or Cutlass Supreme. As the New Jersey Zone Chairperson, Korey plans to rebuild a passion for the NSBE mission through constant communication, unity programming, and professional development. As the Membership Chairperson, Korey plans to create organizational stability throughout all of Region 1st.

Charles Cameron is a Mechanical Engineering major at Northeastern University in Boston. He currently also holds a degree in Sociology from Northeastern. Cam has been heavily involved in NSBE for 3 years; he has served on the New England Zone Board as both Alumni Chair and Vice Chair.
After graduation, he will pursue the development of a successful business in the engineering field. Being apart of NSBE contributes to his personal goals and developed his ability to lead others.

Shannon Roberts is a senior Mechanical Engineering major at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She is currently an intern for General Motors in the Product Development group.
Shannon was born in Jefferson City, MO and now calls St. Louis, MO her hometown. Before serving on the Regional Board, Shannon was Chapter Secretary for NSBE- MIT as well as the New England Zone Secretary.
She is very excited to serve ‘Region First’ as the Academic Excellence Chairperson for the 2008-2009 academic year. During this upcoming year, she plans to push the region to live out the mission statement of "excelling academically". Her focus is to increase the Region's participation in NSBE's academic excellence programs. She looks forward to meeting and interacting with members of Region First and is confident that this can be the most successful year ever!

Jessica is a senior at Princeton University, majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. She is currently interning with Schlumberger in the Well Services segment in Bryan, TX.
Jessica was born in Houston, TX, where she currently lives with her parents and two younger sisters. Jessica hopes to attend a top law school and eventually establish her own private practice.
Prior to becoming Regional Finance Chairperson, Jessica has held several chapter level positions including Secretary, Vice President, and President. She is also involved in Princeton Model Congress and Princeton Pre-Law Society. As Region I Finance Chair, she hopes to maintain consistent communication with chapter level Treasurers and Finance Chairs to strengthen existing corporate partnerships as well as establish new ones.

Philippe Harewood is a senior Chemical Engineering Major and Software Engineering Minor at McGill University. His passion for NSBE began in the fall of 2005 during the McGill Chapter’s recruitment activities. He immediately signed up for a leadership role, and over the years has held the Chapter PCI Chair,Chapter President,Chapter Telecommunications/Public Relations Chair and Zone Programs Chair positions.
He plans on using his extensive experience to improve and modernize communications throughout the Region, as well as help provide the membership with the best NSBE experience possible. He is proud to serve as your 2008-09 telecommunications chair.
